Peacefully in her sleep following a long illness on Monday, November 28, 2011, age 62 years.
Beloved wife of John, dear mother of Will (Sara), Ben (Allison) and Joe (Sarah), loving grandmother of Charlie, and devoted sister of Jane, Ann will also be greatly missed by her cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Born in Colwyn Bay, Wales, Ann emigrated to the USA with her parents, the late George and Ethel Beckerman, in 1968. She returned to Britain and married, coming to Canada in 1984. Once her youngest child was at school full-time, Ann resumed her education, graduating from the Ottawa Adult High School, Carlton University, and the University of Ottawa Law School.
A keen reader, Ann also enjoyed quilting, was an avid Ottawa 67’s season ticket holder, and a long-time active member of the Carlingwood Y. For some years, Ann served as a volunteer cook at the Living Room. Ann loved to travel, renting houses for family gatherings in different parts of the world.
We would like to thank the staff of the gyno-oncology department at Ottawa Hospital General Campus, the Community Palliative Medicine Associates, and the Community Care Access Centre for the excellent care Ann received.
Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd. (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore Dr.,) Nepean on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Those wishing may make memorial donations to Aids Committee of Ottawa, 251 Bank St., Suite 700, Ottawa, K2P 1X3.
Lovely photos and such lovely memories. Will forward this to family members in Britain, who will have some more photos to add perhaps!
